Disney Honors Women’s History Month

During the month of March, Disneyland will be paying tribute to Women’s History Month in many different ways, celebrating women through their inspiring contributions through art, song, food and stories. One of the most famous female faces in Disney is none other than Minnie Mouse herself! This year for the first time ever a Floral Minnie has been created for the entrance of the park! The creation of Floral Minnie was led by Horticulture Specialist Stacy Wise and a team of 13 horticulturists. Minnie’s iconic bow consists of 750 individual Nemesia flowers, and the display overall has 1,900 individual plants, including pansies, violas and petunias. That is a lot of different flowers!

The Downtown Disney District will also be celebrating Women’s month with a few different offerings! From March 15-31, 2022, Chalk muralist Marcella Swett is returning to the Downtown Disney District. She will be creating two different designs honoring women. Swett is a senior production artisan with Disney Live Entertainment. And of top of that is an award-winning visual artist and native Southern Californian.

Also during this month, Sprinkles is introducing their first Female Chef Series. The first will be a Dark Chocolate Passion Fruit, this decadent dark chocolate cake filled with a delicious passion fruit curd was crafted by the Chef Brooke Williamson. That’s not all- Sprinkles is also making a donation to the Step Up Network to help empower young women with the skills and resources to reach their full potential. Ballast Point Brewing Co. will also be paying tribute to famous female chefs with special menu items inspired by some of the different eras and cuisine.

Guest will have the experience to shop at women-owned businesses in Downtown Disney District. There will also be complimentary nightly entertainment as 10 different women-led bands and DJs perform on the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage:

• The Sweethearts – March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
• Dueling DJs Featuring Ash & Ashley – March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
• Darden – March 5, 19, 25
• Eva and the Vagabond Tales – March 6, 13, 20, 27
• Girls Night Out – March 7, 14, 21, 28
• Mariachi Divas – March 8, 15, 22, 29
• Sarah Winchester Band – March 4, 12, 18
• Amanda Castro Band – March 11, 26

These aren’t the only ways Women will be honored during this month. Offerings are subject to change. Refer back to confirm events.
