I went into our cruise on the Mardi Gras expecting normal cruise food. Not bad, not great. Totally was impressed by the end of our sailing of the quality and quantity of dining included on the Carnival Mardi Gras!
The biggest surprise was that Big Chicken (Shaq) and Guy’s Burgers were both completely included in our cruise fare. With them being big names and more specialty type, I was happy to find out they were included!
The main dining room is open everyday for all meals and of course is included in your cruise fare. If you have my time dining, you will be seated in The Flamingo dining room at whatever time you decide to go to dinner. I did think the main dining room was a bit prettier, but they were essentially the exact same thing.
There are two restaurants that the first time is free and then the second time is $8. Chibang the reviews weren’t great so we didn’t try it, the Italian was super good though.
The Buffet is set up different than I’ve seen on other cruise lines. It is more marketplace style and the seating is all spread out and separated for a more intimate feel. I will say those options were very limited at dinner.
They do a brunch on sea days, that people dressed up for. It felt like we were at the Kentucky Derby with some of the hats guests were wearing. The food was really good and the overall vibe of the event was really fun. I was surprised this was free!
Also there was a tea party included on the last sea day. Even if you don’t drink tea, the finger sandwiches and fruit are worth going for! We dressed our little girls up and made a fun fancy afternoon out of it! Check the app for details on when this is.
Even if you don’t pay extra for any dining experiences, you aren’t going to go hungry or without good food!
