Whenever I talk about all-inclusive resorts with my clients, the first thing they ask, without exception, is: “How is the food?” At Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda, you have three restaurants to choose from for your dining pleasure: Cayuco – the main dining room with a wide selection of international cuisine, Coco Plum Beach Lounge – an a la carte dining experience with gorgeous views of the ocean, and Coal and Copper Steakhouse – an exclusive dinner-only dining option specializing in charcoal grilling. Indulge in a little something extra with a visit to the Secret Chocolate Room, which is open after dinner and only on select nights.
The main restaurant at Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is Cayuco, which serves a refined and sophisticated international menu ranging from lamb chop lollipops to hand-made gnocchi. Picky eaters need not fear, however; in addition to its international offerings, Cayuco also has the standard fare available, such as a pasta station, a pizza station, and a fruit station. Although the menu changes daily, you can always count on Cayuco to serve up a wide variety of food options for all of its guests. Whether you are feeling adventurous and want to try a seafood dish served up Dominican-style, or you are looking to devour a big, tasty burger fresh off the grill, you will always find something to satisfy your palate at Cayuco.
The star of the show, in my humble opinion, however, is the wide variety of sweets and delicacies offered in the main dining room. In addition to the gelato bar, which serves a very delightful and refreshing coconut-flavored gelato, the pastry chefs are hard at work preparing chocolate croissants, raspberry financiers, and chocolate and almond tarts as far as the eye can see.
Cayuco features three separate dining rooms that are cleverly themed to match each room’s distinct personality. The first room, reserved for adults, is beautifully decorated with shades of blue and gray. The other two dining rooms, inspired by the jungle and representing the tropical flair of the Dominican Republic, provide guests with an energetic atmosphere to enjoy while satisfying their hunger.
Be on the lookout for the Baby Food station in the second dining room! Parents of little ones – do not fear: the Baby Food station has a mini-refrigerator stocked with milk for the babies, as well as softened food that you can puree yourself in the blender provided. Club Med really has thought of everything when it comes to traveling with your children!
Cacao & Co., the family restaurant, is a separate dining room within a playful atmosphere that will keep your children engaged while they dine. Note that, although it is listed as a family restaurant, it is simply a separate family-themed dining room at this time and does not have its own cuisine.
This a la carte seafood restaurant is open all day long and features menu items such as grilled avocado, tuna aguachiles, and filet. If you are in the mood for beachside dining, a romantic dinner for two, or a meal featuring live music and a view of the gorgeous ocean waters and pristine untouched beaches of Playa Esmeralda, this is the dining destination for you.
If you are in the mood for upscale dining, treat yourself to a dinner at Coal and Copper Steakhouse, where the open kitchen concept takes on a whole new meaning. Watch as the expert grill chefs cook up a Tomahawk steak on open fire and pair it with sauces to delight your taste buds, including the Argentinian classic chimichurri sauce. Although you will have to pay an extra charge to dine here, guests of Coal and Copper will agree that it is one hundred percent worth it!
No review of the dining at Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda would be complete without a mention of the Secret Chocolate Room, located in the back of Cacao and Co. Knock four times before you will be allowed into this delightfully playful room filled with sweet treats and a white chocolate fountain!
How is the food at Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda? Delightful. Abundant. Delicious. Take your pick. You won't be disappointed.
