It’s no secret that Disney goes above and beyond with their theming, decor and events! So why would Christmas be anything less than amazing at the Walt Disney World resort!
Every year not too long after Halloween concludes in a blink of an eye, at least it seems that quick, everything is Christmas! Where can you see the decor? Everywhere. From the parks, to Disney Springs and all the resorts! Every resort has specific theming and that doesn’t stop when the Christmas celebration begins. Cast members carry that same theming through how they decorate the trees and other appliqués throughout.
Do you know how many decorate Christmas trees are in property? If you guessed 1500 you are right! Disney has a whole crew of cast members dedicated to the holiday seasons and it is a year round task to not only decorate the resort but also prepare and refurbish for the next year! Many of the outdoor decorations are to exposed to many different elements due to weather. Many objects need to have paint touch ups, reshaping and replacing. It is a very fascinating process how there is a schedule process for each piece of the holiday celebration! Many documentaries have been aired on Disney+ to give some inside scoop on the holiday teams!
Did I save the best for last? Of course I did! The gingerbread houses! There are eight gingerbread displays throughout Disney World. These can be found at the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Saratoga Springs, Animal Kingdom Lodge and the gingerbread pastry shop at Amorette’s Patisserie. A fun day spent during the holidays is taking a relaxing day to visit these amazing displays. Don’t be fooled they are not a table sized house you can make at home. The Grand Floridian’a house is a life sized house completely made from sugar, flour and all the confections you can think of!
