The news we Walt Disney World enthusiasts have known was coming has been announced...Back in August 2024 at the D23 Expo, Disney announced there would be a new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Monster’s Inc. to be exact. The exciting news quickly took to the social media world, and the enthusiasts began to wonder exactly where that would go in reference to the park layout. It made sense that it would take over and expand a small area in the park that is generally pretty quiet, perfect for that rest time for kiddos and a smaller enclosed space for them to just walk around when a much needed stroller break was called for. Yes, I’m talking about Muppets Courtyard or on the park map known as Grand Avenue.

Inside the Muppets area, guests can experience Jim Hensen’s last project, Muppet Vision 3D, along with two dining options: PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. So many of us will miss that rat pizza.

Disney Destinations does deliver this news gently by providing us with another change that is happening. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be receiving a new theme, which of course is The Muppets. Yes, the crew is moving down Sunset Boulevard and will be proving some musical entertainment with this thrilling attraction. Disney Destinations states that they will be “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival.”
The company also states “as we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.” While there is not any sort of elaboration on this statement, I remain hopeful that The Muppets will continue to shine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
While we know that the area is closing, there has not been an announcement for when it will actually happen. Disney Destinations does say that there is still plenty of time to catch both attractions before their final days, and the new land does not have a set date for opening.
