This year there has been many changes regarding attractions. From virtual queues to Genie+ and Lightening Lanes. If you had visited Disney before 2020, then you’re aware of their Fast Passes. This was where guests were able to schedule 3 fast passes per park day. Allowing them to return to the select ride they were able to get at the they were able to choose and they can board the ride rather quickly. Well that format is a thing of the past!
With the excitement and crowds being drawn to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios; virtual queues arrived! Rise of the Resistance was the first ride to adopt this feature. Guests would have to try to get into the queue by logging onto the My Disney Experience app first thing in the morning. If you were assigned a boarding group you then had an estimated return time for the ride. This was a way to handle the traffic being brought due to the popularity of the attraction. Now since the virtual queue is no longer used guests can either purchase the Lightening Lane option or wait standby.
Fast forward to a few months ago and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure started using the same feature to allow guests to get boarding groups and assigned times to ride. Today it was announced that this attraction will also be following the path of the Rise of Resistance moving to Lightening Lane and standby options.
A few months ago Disney announced the new Genie+ option. This is a great feature to add to enhance your vacation! Through the My Disney Experience app you can get tips and ideas based on some interests you can plug in. But the main feature many guests are enjoying is the option to schedule ride times. Guests staying on property can log into the app at 7am and make a reservation for whichever ride is available at the park they have a current park reservation at. Once guests have ridden that ride they can then select their next and so on. The option of Lightening Lane allows guests to purchase a Fast pass for select attractions. Prices vary by day and attraction for this option. And each guest riding will have to purchase it.
