Brunch at Remy's Onboard the Disney Dream

By:  Karen Fitting, a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent

One of my favorite parts of my recent trip on the Disney Dream was brunch at the fine dining restaurant Remy, inspired by the movie Ratatouille. We enjoyed a prix fixe menu developed by Chef Scott Hunnel (from Victoria & Alberts at WDW Grand Floridian) and 3 Michelin starred Chef Arnauld Lallement (from l’Assiette Champenoise hotel in France).

Remy’s is adults only, requires reservations, and has a dress code that is strictly enforced. For brunch, women are asked to wear a dress or pantsuit, while men are asked to wear dress shirt and pants. It’s far more fancy for dinner where many will wear cocktail attire.

As we were brought to our table, the host shared some of the details of the décor (hidden Remy’s) as well as two wines featured in the film Ratatouille being displayed in the wine case. It’s a small and intimate dining room with fantastic views.

The attention to detail is truly impressive, from the quality to the menu items, plating, presentation, and service. Once seated, we were greeted with a glass of Moet Champagne. Our server introduced the menu and then we had the first course. Each course was described to perfection prior to serving so if anyone had any issues with the ingredients, they easily adapted.

Our first course was Bellota Ham and was described as a palette opener. It was super thin sliced meat that reminded me a little of prosciutto.

The second course, Asparagus & Caviar was wonderful! The caviar provided the exact flavor to go with the vegetable and sauce.

Prior to each course, we were brought a basket of bread that was meant to accompany the plate. I enjoyed breaking off the bread to soak up every bit of sauce.

Next, we had Tortellini like no other I’ve ever had. The foam on top and sauce beneath were perfect, together with the cheese disks. These were delicious bites that I cut in half to take my time and savor each bite.

We didn’t know what the Hommard, Pomme De Terre course was until they described it as lobster and potato. When the plate was served, we had a beautiful presentation of delicate strings of potato topping the fish.

The main course was Poulet Rouge, a North Carolina dish that’s a tube of chicken filled with a mushroom sauce. One person at our table didn’t care for mushrooms so they substituted a Wagyu Beef instead.

Dessert was Baba Vanille and the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Softly soaked cake with a vanilla crème and a side of rum sauce to pour over (or to drink!). We thought we were finished until we were surprised with an additional sweet plate of toffee-like bites.

Since we were a table of three, they had three people serving our dishes and we were presented with our food all at once. Every course, bread service, and interaction seemed choreographed and deliberate.  All our questions were easily answered, and they seemed to enjoy our constant photography. Our serving team was amazing!

Remy’s is a premium experience with an added cost. As of September 2021 it was $75 per person + $33 for the optional Champagne tasting (plus tax and gratuity). I found it to be a complete dining experience combining fabulous food and amazing service to make an extraordinary memory.
