Blue Bayou at Disneyland

Blue Bayou Salad

When you think of Disneyland, I am sure the first things that come to mind are fairy tales, magical wonder and princesses galore! Envision walking down Main Street, peering straight ahead at Sleeping Beauty’s beautiful castle, while also taking in the smells of buttered popcorn and sweet cotton candy. You look to your left and see a cast member holding a plethora of balloons, and on the right another cast member motioning for you to come over and get a picture taken in front of the castle.

You grab your family and friends and you make a b-line for the photo in front of the castle. I mean hey, this is your very first time at Disneyland and you must have a photo in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. You then stop and think, “okay, it’s time to decide where you want to eat dinner for the evening”. Food has always been one of the most adventurous things about going to Disney World, and this trip to Disneyland will not disappoint.

This evening’s dining experience calls for more than just the usual tacos, burgers and pizza. This experience calls for complete and utter immersion. You open the park guide and there it is…Blue Bayou. Located in “New Orleans Square”, you know you are in for a dinner sure to please. There is a slim chance to get a table because dining at Disneyland is hard to come by without a reservation, but you grab one for 6:45pm…SCORE!

Blue Bayou Menu

You and your group leave Fantasyland, as it is 6:30pm and you head toward New Orleans Square. You arrive to check in and are greeted by the concierge of the restaurant. If you look just past the concierge, you can barely see a large dining room with low light and candle lit tables glittering through the air. Your name is called and you are taken to your table which is directly next to the river area, otherwise known as the “bayou”, which also happens to be part of the “Pirates of the Caribbean “ ride! As you are seated and ordering your water, you can hear the crawdads singing in the background which reflects a true immersive experience of an actual bayou in the low country. You continue to take in your surroundings and as you look around, you see hanging willow trees and decor around the restaurant that resemble real life plantation homes and balconies.

White Wine

Now it’s time to order your dinner. There is so much to choose from and you can’t decide, so you order a salad, some gumbo and a glass of white wine. You are officially in heaven and the food and experience is everything you imagine and you can’t wait to plan your vacation to return next year. In fact, you already are, but have decided to use your Marvelous Mouse Travel agent this time because you just can’t risk possibly missing all of the wonderful experiences and dining reservations that they can assist you with!
