The month of May is full of days dedicated to the observation of many things; Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day. However, the entire month is dedicated to Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and Disney has introduced many new tasty food items as part of the celebration! Be sure to reach out to a Marvelous Mouse Travels agent to book your last minute trip this May to help celebrate any occasion, or just to snack on the delicious food!

This year, Moana is receiving a few special treats of her own in the celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. First, there is a beautifully designed cupcake topped with a white chocolate image of Moana herself. The vanilla cupcake has a buttercream frosting, topped with green coconut flakes, and nestled on the top you will find Moana and a fresh orchid. There will also be a new DOLE Whip treat, that will only be available for the month of May. The DOLE Whip will be topped with the Heart Of Te Fiti designed on white chocolate, a sprinkle of mochi cake pieces, and another beautiful edible flower. These two delectable desserts, along with a few others can only be found at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
Most of the resorts are also offering new products to help celebrate this month. Some of the Moderate and Deluxe properties have gained new menu items for the month. An Executive chef was inspired by his heritage for the new item, Korean Fried Chicken Bowl with Cucumber Namasu. This item is made with chicken thighs, a red chili paste sauce, pickled cucumber, sesame seeds, and green onions. Another menu item that is always offered at the Value properties is Sesame Chicken Stir-fry. This is created by placing an assortment of vegetables, rice, and chicken together.
A new alcoholic beverage has made its way onto the menu as well! The Pad Thai Fizz is crafted with Peanut Butter Whiskey by Skrewball, ginger beer, Thai basil, and lime! You will find this adult beverage around several locations from the pool bars to table service restaurants.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is home to an area dedicated to Asia, and always has fantastic food options, but there have been a few more added to those menu boards. The adorable Red Panda from Disney’s Turning Red has a new cupcake dedicated to her! This vanilla cupcake has a mandarin orange creamy filling, and topped with red crispy pearls, frosting created to resemble a bao bun, and an adorable white chocolate red panda. This treat can only be found at Pizzafari for the month of May.

On top of all of the amazing outdoor kitchens during the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival, there are now new items that have been introduced to follow the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. While the famous Frushi, located at Hanami Outdoor Kitchen, has returned as part of the seasonal festival, it is also featured as part of the monthly celebration. Some new menu items include Char Siu Rice Bowl, an Ozeki Pineapple Nigori Saki, and a Golden Philadelphia Roll. All of which sound simply amazing!
While you could eat around the Parks and Resorts for days, and still not try all of the new and returning offerings, you simply cannot go wrong with any of these options. Reach out today for your next Disney vacation, and include time to try something new.
