One of the questions I get asked all the time is, “Is a Disney Deluxe Resort really worth the extra money?”
And honestly? It depends on how you like to vacation.
Some families see their resort as nothing more than a place to shower and sleep before heading back to the parks. Others want their resort to be part of the vacation experience. If you’re in that second group, a Deluxe Resort might be worth every penny.
When people hear “Disney Deluxe Resort,” think of Disney’s top-tier hotels. These resorts offer larger rooms, beautiful theming, incredible pools, great dining, and some of the best locations on Disney property.

Many Deluxe Resorts allow you to walk, take a monorail, hop on a boat, or use the Skyliner to reach at least one of the parks. That means less time waiting for transportation and more time enjoying your vacation.
And trust me, there is something pretty magical about leaving Magic Kingdom at the end of the night and being back in your room just a few minutes later bypassing all the bus lines.
One of the biggest perks of staying Deluxe is access to Extended Evening Theme Park Hours on select nights.
This gives guests staying at Deluxe Resorts extra time in certain parks after they close to regular guests. The crowds are lower, wait times are shorter, and the parks feel completely different at night.
If you’ve ever wanted to ride some of Disney’s most popular attractions without spending half your evening in line, this perk alone can be a huge value.
Food is another area where Deluxe Resorts really shine.

Many offer multiple dining options right at the resort, from quick service locations that feel less like a cafeteria and more like an actual restaurant, to signature dining experiences, lounges, and character meals. Plus, you’re often just a short walk, boat ride, or monorail ride away from even more restaurants.
If dining is part of your vacation experience, you’ll definitely notice the difference.
But here’s the real question, Is Deluxe right for your family?
If you enjoy spending time at the resort, love a great pool, take midday breaks, or simply appreciate beautiful surroundings, a Deluxe Resort can absolutely be worth the splurge.

Families with younger kids often love the convenience of being closer to the parks. It’s much easier to head back for naps, pool time, melt downs or an early bedtime when your resort is just minutes away.
On the flip side, if your plan is rope drop to fireworks every day and you only plan to be in your room long enough to sleep, you may not get enough value from those extra amenities to justify the higher price tag.
For some families, a Value or Moderate Resort is actually the smarter choice.
This is where working with a travel advisor can make a huge difference. We have personally toured and stayed at all the properties and there isn’t one “best” Disney Resort. The best resort is the one that fits your family’s travel style, priorities, and budget.
When we help clients plan Disney vacations, we ask questions about how they like to travel. Do they spend time at the pool? Do they need easy transportation? Are they foodies? Do they want a quieter atmosphere? Are they planning midday breaks?

The answers to those questions usually tell us pretty quickly whether a Deluxe Resort is worth considering.
One of the biggest misconceptions about using a travel advisor is that it costs extra. It doesn’t.
My planning services are included when you book your Disney vacation through me. That means you get help choosing the right resort, building your itinerary, navigating dining reservations, understanding transportation, and making sure you’re getting the most value for your vacation budget.
I also keep an eye on promotions after you’re booked and can often apply new discounts if they become available.
At the end of the day, staying Deluxe isn’t about having the most expensive hotel. It’s about deciding whether the extra convenience, amenities, location, and overall experience are things you’ll actually use and enjoy.

For some families, a Deluxe Resort becomes one of their favorite parts of the entire trip. For others, putting those savings toward extra park days, character dining, or a future vacation makes more sense.
The good news? You don’t have to figure it out alone.
