AANHPI Heritage Month Flavors at Universal

Universal Orlando has turned up the flavor for the month of May as we celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month! Multiple locations across the parks and Universal City Walk have added amazing dishes and beverages to their menus to celebrate. There is still a ton of time to visit Universal this May and experience the parks. Your Marvelous Mouse Travels agent can help you plan an unforgettable last minute trip.

The first park, which is one of my favorite places, Universal Volcano Bay has two delicious sounding options that have graced the menus. Kohola Reed Restaurant & Social Club is already home to an amazing Hawaiian Ribs Platter and Longboard Pizzas. A new addition to the menu here is the Hawaiian Longboard Pizza which features Spam, pineapple, and teriyaki sauce as the main toppings.

Across the way, Dancing Dragons Boat Bar now has a Lychee Breeze on the menu. Lychee is refreshing, so this new beverage is sure to hit the spot on a warm day at Universal Volcano Bay. The drink also features dark rum, black rum, and some notes of citrus.

The next park to chat about is Universal Studios. Here there is such a variety of food options, but the new Asian Beef Satay and Ube Milk Tea will be a must try! Over at San Fran Streetcar, between New York and London, the new Asian Beef Satay has been added to the menu. This dish is native to Asia and is a choice of skewered meat, here it is just offered in beef with a soy glaze and topped with toasted spicy peanuts. A Universal Orlando chef recreated these new additions with memories of the Philippines where he and his family are from. The second creation is Ube Milk Tea made with almond milk and features brown sugar boba. The perfect pairing while strolling through the park.

One area that does not require a ticket is Universal City Walk, an area willed with restaurants, entertainment venues, and shopping. A popular restaurant, The Toothsome  Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen, has added a new creation, the Rising Calm. Crafted from Japanese Whiskey, lemon juice, gochujang syrup (made in-house), and lemon bitters, this cocktail is the perfect blend of sweetness and spice.

Also in Universal City Walk is Cowfish Bar and Grill, another popular location where sushi and burgers come together for amazing dishes. The first item added for AANHPI Heritage Month here is the Hawai’ian Loco Moco. The gravy, mushrooms, onions, and sunny side-up egg make a great dish. The perfect pairing is the Red Dragon Smash which looks fruity but has a splash of spice from the peppercorn flakes. The base of the cocktail features Sichuan baijiu which is a blend of melon, green apple, and other fruits.

While Universal Orlando Resort always has a ton of flavors to offer, these special dishes are only available for a limited time! Be sure to check out the free planning services offered by Marvelous Mouse Travels for your next Universal vacation!
