A Visit to Seattle

Boat ride with skyline Seattle

This summer we gave our kids the choice to choose where we would visit and Seattle, Washington was the winner! We decided on August in the hopes of great weather and we lucked out. I researched a few hotels but I could not resist booking the Edgewater Noble House for our stay. The Edgewater is the only over the water hotel in all of Seattle. It also is a huge part of the Seattle music scene. Its famous rock legends include The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pearl Jam to name a few. You can even book suites with Rock Star themes. We arrived to one of the prettiest lobby I have scene. With amazing music playing and sweeping views of Elliott Bay, we knew right away this was the perfect place to stay. The Edgewater Hotel is also the perfect location if you want to walk to Seattle Landmarks.

Crab Pot Boil Seattle

We dropped our bags off in our room and decided to head to the pier for a traditional crab boil at The Crab Pot and take in all the pier nighttime offerings.

Space Needle Seattle

Day two we got up and walked to the Space Needle for our departure time. The skies were clear so it was a perfect day to head up for an amazing view. I suggest booking the first tour of the day as this is a very popular spot and the lines get long. We got into the needle within 5 minutes having the first tour time slot. The views from the Space Needle are incredible but not for the faint of heart if you are afraid of heights!
After the Space Needle we walked over to the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibit located next to the space needle. Admission was included with the ticket we purchased for our Space Needle Tour. Let me tell you this exhibit blew us away! It was stunning, beautiful, and mesmerizing. It’s 100% a must do. They even have live demonstrations of glass shaping. I felt like I stepped into the Willy Wonka of glass exhibits and I could have stayed all day.
To finish off our day I rented a private boat to take us around Puget Sound. There are many ferry boats that can take you but I highly recommend a private boat tour. We were able to relax and take in all the sights. Our tour was 2 hours and it was amazing to have a city view and views of Mount Rainier in the background as well. We spotted a few seals and jellyfish but most importantly we got to see the beauty of Washington.
Day three we walked over to Pike Place Market. The Public Market is an extremely interesting and historical spot. It’s also really confusing! So we opted to hop on a tour with a private chef who would take us around for 2 hours. Chef John was fantastic. He had so many historical facts and he knew absolutely everyone who worked in the market. This worked out to our benefit with lots of samples. This tour is great if you want to try a lot of different foods and not have to wait in any lines. A few items we tried were salmon jerky, clam chowder, onion pineapple tacos, fresh biscuits, pizza, cheese, and truffles just to name a few! Nest up was the underground tour which is rated very high. But this ranked low with my family. Perhaps the nighttime ghostly underground tour would have offered more excitement.

Day four will go down in history with my kids. They are huge baseball fans and their goal is to visit all 30 baseball stadiums. The Seattle Mariners were playing away games during our visit but you can tour the T-Mobile stadium when the team is out of town. The tour was only $15 so we just expected to see the field and go. Boy were we wrong! The tour started with us heading into the elevators to the very top of the stadium. The Stadium was build in 1999 and is beautiful. At the very top of the stadium there is a deck that overlooks the whole city. The views are incredible! We went down a level and toured the owners suites and got a little baseball history. Then we headed to….the basement. We walked out of the elevator and straight onto the field. We even got to sit in the dugouts which is a dream come true for baseball fans. After lots of pictures we headed into the visitors locker room. My kids sat on every piece of furniture. The Yankees just left so they were hoping to have sat in a spot where Aaron Judge sat. This tour is worth it and honestly we felt like we should have paid more!
We ended the night having dinner over the water at our hotel restaurant. It was the perfect ending to the best trip. We can’t wait to come back!
